PLATING SATIN CHROME
SATIN CHROME PLATING is the process used where chrome is plated over satin nickel to achieve a hard finish that is semi-lustrous with some reflectivity. It is also referred to as "brushed chrome". Satin Chrome finish is achieved initially by bombarding the surface to be hard chrome plated with a slurry medium, made up from either glass bead or alumina particles of various sizes and water. This slurry is applied to the surface using an airstream under pressure. This process ensures that any micro mechanical debris that could adversely affect any subsequent hard chromium plating is removed. A matt textured finish is achieved that when it is hard chrome plated will become a satin chrome finish.
